Name-Based Case Searches
The free Huerfano County Docket Search works without a login. It shows public hearing dates. Pick Individual and you get first- and last-name boxes. Pick Business and you get a business-name box instead. Match the spelling on your court notice exactly when you can. The form offers no wildcard help and does not say which fields are required. Common names pull back many rows at once. A domestic-relations case may even list a party twice for one hearing. Read each Huerfano County case search row carefully before assuming a match. Done well, a name search narrows the public schedule fast. Just remember that a calendar hit is only a setting, not the whole court file.
- Open the Huerfano-filtered calendar and confirm that Location reads Huerfano County.
- Select Individual or Business, then enter the known name fields without assuming a wildcard.
- Use date, Court Type, or Division filters when the name creates a long result list.
- Compare case number, hearing time, location, and appearance type before relying on a row.
- Ask the Combined Court clerk for an ROA when the question concerns case history rather than the next hearing.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |

| Last Name | Text | Not stated | Use the spelling on the court notice. |
| Business Name | Text | Not stated | Available in Business mode. |
| Date or Date Range | Date control | Optional | Narrows scheduled hearings, not filing history. |
Huerfano Docket Search Form
The Huerfano County docket search form takes more than names. It lets you filter by a date or date range, Court Type, Division, the pieces of a case number, attorney name, or attorney bar number. Searching by attorney is a quick way to see a day's settings across a courtroom. It cannot tell you who is attorney of record today. For that, turn to the filed case record or the ROA. The official public access guide describes how approved vendors receive real-time Judicial Department data. It also carries an official-record warning worth reading.
The difference matters. The no-login calendar is free and current for hearing settings. Vendor register data may reach wider, but it costs money and is not a certified Huerfano County court record.
Huerfano Case Search Attorney Fields
Attorney fields round out the Huerfano County docket form. Attorney Name mode opens first and last name boxes. Attorney Bar Number mode takes the numeric identifier. Either one gathers a lawyer's public settings for a given day. Be careful what you conclude, though. Seeing counsel on a calendar does not prove they still represent that party. Check the ROA or the filed appearance history when current representation matters. Compare each case number in the results, since two similar settings may not be the same case at all.
Case Number Searches
A case number is usually the cleanest key for a Huerfano County case search. The calendar splits it into a four-digit year, a case class, and a sequence. You will see shapes like 2026CR29, 2026M40, 2026T22, 2026C30048, and 2026DR9. Enter the year, pick the right class, and type the sequence. Skip spaces unless the live form asks for them.
The class letters do the routing. CR means District Court criminal, M means County Court misdemeanors, and T means traffic. C is County Court civil. CV is District Court civil. DR is domestic relations, and S covers small claims. One caution on civil numbers: a 300-series sequence is just an identifier. It is never the dollar amount sought. A transfer or appeal can create a newer number. Ask the clerk to link the old and new Huerfano County records so nothing gets lost between them.
Missing Huerfano Case Search Results
An empty result is not proof that no Huerfano County case exists. The free tool covers scheduled public hearings, not every filing ever made. A matter may have no current setting. It may sit outside the dates you chose, carry a different spelling, belong to Walsenburg Municipal Court, be stored offsite, or fall into a restricted category. Check the full case number and class first. Then widen the date range and confirm the issuing court listed on your notice.
For a Walsenburg ordinance or municipal ticket, call the Municipal Court clerk at 719-695-1034. A La Veta town matter starts at Town Hall, 719-742-3631. The town runs no separate case portal. Questions about state District or County Court cases go to the Huerfano County Combined Court at 719-742-3631's neighbor line, 719-793-7100, option 2. Records requests, including ROA and document requests, can go by email to HuerfanoRecordsRequest@judicial.state.co.us. Email is a records channel only; it is not permission to file a pleading.
Note: An empty calendar query shows only that no matching public setting appeared. It is not a ruling on anything.
Huerfano Municipal Case Search Routes
Municipal cases never appear on the Huerfano County state calendar. Walsenburg publishes no public municipal case database. The chain runs through the citation itself, the clerk phone, the city counter, and a CCJRA request form. La Veta offers no dedicated court search either. Always check the issuing court before deciding a ticket is missing. A city-code matter can stay entirely with the municipal clerk. A DUI, felony, or state traffic case belongs at the Combined Court.
Case Search Results Explained
A Huerfano County docket result card shows schedule facts, nothing more. It does not open the full electronic case file. Result counts and pagination shift as hearings get set or reset. Treat what you see as a snapshot in motion. Printable Version and Export Results help you organize the current output. Neither one certifies it. When a later court order or clerk instruction conflicts with an old export, the order wins.
| Date and Time | The scheduled date, start time, and expected duration. |
|---|---|
| Name | The public case or party display; one case may create more than one row. |
| Case Number | The year, class, and sequence, such as 2026DR9. |
| Hearing Type | A label such as arraignment, plea hearing, court trial, or return date. |
| Location | Huerfano County for the filtered state-court search. |
| Appearance and Room | IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or blank, plus Courtroom A or B when shown. |
One search row tells you little on its own. It omits charges, filings, judgments, bond terms, costs, and document images. For any of that, turn to the Huerfano County court case records process and request the source document behind the docket entry.
Huerfano Case Search Printouts
A printout helps with planning, but it is not an authenticated clerk record. Certification is different. It attaches the Huerfano County Clerk of Court's official authentication to a document you request. The fee is the posted certification amount per document. Copy and postage costs apply where they apply. When an agency or another court needs proof of an order, ask for that exact filed order. Say you want it certified.
Colorado's framework for court-record access is set out by CJD 05-01. It governs how records like a Huerfano County docket can be viewed:
CJD 05-01 covers public access, exclusions, vendor data, corrections, and access at court facilities. It also explains something practical. A public Huerfano County search result can be narrower than what the clerk itself can provide.
Huerfano Case Search Access Levels
Four routes reveal different pieces of a Huerfano County case. Anonymous calendar access answers one question. Paid vendor access, own-case CCE access, and the clerk answer others. The free tool tells you when and where. CoCourts supplies a broader informational register for the classes it covers.
CCE is not a public name-search tool. It is an account route for an accepted user's own case. Official production and certification rest with the clerk. Redaction does too, along with access to material absent from remote search.
Two Ways to Search: County and State
Colorado's free docket tool covers the whole state. Add a county filter and it becomes a Huerfano County hearing search. Colorado Courts Record Search is the broader register layer. You reach it through approved vendors such as CoCourts. Need an official ROA, a filed document, or a certified copy? The Combined Court clerk remains the source. None of these are rival versions of one database; each answers a different question.
| Channel | Best Use | Access and Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Judicial Branch Docket Search | Find a public Huerfano County hearing. | Free, anonymous, schedule only. |
| CoCourts approved vendor | Review a broader register of actions. | Paid, real-time data, not the official record. |
| Combined Court clerk | Obtain an ROA, filed order, or certification. | Webform, email, mail, phone, or counter; fees may apply. |
| Colorado Courts E-Filing | Access an accepted user's own opted-in case. | Account access, not anonymous public search. |
The clerk counter is in Walsenburg. The address is 200 West 5th Street, Suite 141. Public hours run weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Afternoons run 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Terminal availability is not confirmed. If public-computer access matters to your docket search, call before you travel.
Older Huerfano Case Searches
Older Huerfano County files may never surface in a current hearing search. Give the clerk the party names. Add the approximate year, the case type, and any prior case number. Then ask where the file sits. It may remain onsite. It may require offsite retrieval at actual cost. Or it may have moved to the Colorado State Archives. Approve a retrieval estimate only after the office identifies the likely file.
The appellate records policies and fees page shows another layer of Colorado record custody:
An appeal creates its own record in the state hierarchy. Search the trial number for local history and the appellate number for appellate entries. For transferred archival material, the State Archives is the proper historical path, not repeated calendar searches.
Which Cases Stay Restricted
Ordinary remote search cannot reach every Huerfano County case record. Juvenile, adoption, dependency and neglect, protected probate, mental-health, suppressed criminal, sealed, and confidential-document categories may be omitted. Some may simply be masked. The clerk may ask for government photo identification to assess your right to a record. Showing ID does not guarantee release when the law keeps the material closed.
Colorado's sealed-case confirmation search serves a narrow purpose under section 13-3-117. It can confirm qualifying automatically sealed conviction records. It does not reveal sealed content. It is no substitute for the Huerfano County docket search. A missing row proves nothing. It does not establish sealing, dismissal, or expungement. Ask the Combined Court clerk about the file. It may be public, restricted, offsite, municipal, or simply outside the current calendar.
Access point: CJD 05-01 permits broad public court-record access while recognizing lawful exclusions and narrower remote access. The originating clerk decides access to the official Huerfano County file.
Huerfano Case Search Request Timing
The official record-request webform says responses generally come within three business days absent extenuating circumstances. That is a response representation. It is not a promise of full production in three days. A large, redacted, archived, or restricted request will not always be fully produced in that window. Clear details speed things along. Include the Huerfano County case number, party names, approximate year, exact document title, and desired delivery method. State whether certification is needed.
The printable request route also works by mail. Wait for a Notice of Fees, and check your spam folder for fee mail. Never place card details on the blank form. Certified research goes out by U.S. mail, while ordinary research may be emailed. If a court date is close, skip the wait and use the free calendar. You can also call and choose option 2.
